//ABOUT ME:
Hey suga! I’m April, The Kitchen Strategist. In my world, food and finance have married each other. I’m a southern, mostly self-taught scratch cooker, with a desire to learn so much more, like canning and dehydrating. But I’m confident that I can show you how to Stop Eating Your Money™️ with some kitchen strategies and systems I’ve developed over the years. That way, you can redirect those savings to more important things, like establishing an emergency fund, buying a house, or taking a vacation. I’ll show you what I already know. The other things? Well, we’ll just have to learn them together. Either way, we’re saing money. ☺️
I never have an appetite. At night I eat something healthy!
Succinct and informational. Thanks for sharing.

First timer.thank you for the tips.And may I add that you are a beautiful woman.God bless you.
If it’s something I use, and I have a way to preserve it, I buy it in bulk. But I also like to keep things streamlined, which also can help keep costs down.
While I do understand there is a good reason for most people not to buy whole wheat flour in bulk (short shelf life), there’s also a way to get around that by buying wheat bran in bulk (to store in the pantry), and a jar of wheat germ to keep in your freezer (takes up a lot less space than trying to store a bulk purchase of whole wheat flour in your freezer).
When you want whole wheat flour, just combine using this formula:
3 cups all purpose flour
1 cup wheat bran
2 TBS wheat germ
You might also save more money by not buying bread flour, which is usually a noticeably higher price than all purpose flour. Instead, buy a large bag of vital wheat gluten to add to the all purpose flour (as you need it), to have the same higher gluten content as bread flour. (You can also use the vital wheat gluten for making seitan.)
AND when you combine both of those concepts, you can end up with whole wheat bread flour:
3 cups all purpose flour
1 cup wheat bran
2 TBS wheat germ
3 TBS vital wheat gluten
You can also buy molasses instead of brown sugar, then add it to white sugar, as you need it, and never worry about a hardened brick of brown sugar ever again.
